Silverstone Classic 23/25 August 2024

The Club’s attendance at this year's event was to celebrate 40 years of Audi's double win of both Drivers and Constructors Championship in 1984.

Over the weekend 16 members brought their different types of quattro to our stand plus we had quite a few members visiting us. We got support from Audi UK who delivered their unique and iconic 1985 S1E2. A big thank you from all of us.

The weather at these outdoor events is always a gamble but the commitment of the car clubs along with the requisite  admission fee means that there is a large attendance on each day regardless of weather conditions. Saturday morning was a complete wash out but all other days were granted favourable conditions. Every one of our members who attended made a significant effort to be there and it was so nice to meet new faces and catch up with everybody.

Members and cars came as far as Aberdeen. The well known “Bangers and Cash” quattro was also present. Andy from Kent brought 3 interesting cars: Stirling Moss racing car, an 80 sport as well as a TTRS. Our Chairman came with his WR quattro with the boot full of essentials, family in tow and a roof rack full of the very basics, well done Daniel.

Phil brought his cherished RR and his rally prepped S1 in action on the short track. Martin came with his lovely rally replica and Graham’s Dialynx sport quattro was really popular. Many thanks to everybody for the commitment to this event, it was great to see you all.

The festival itself was huge loads of track action, nice food and amazing evening entertainment. Unfortunately we did not make it to the track’s lap list, despite our best efforts. The laps were cancelled on the Saturday due to weather, maybe next time.

We all had a jolly good time, the reactions of the public to every one of the quattros was heartwarming and it was a privilege to be able to show off the S1E2 as a being a genuine and very rare example of this important car. Most importantly it was really nice to get together a bunch of members from all over the country.

In summary, this was an excellent event.
