Wearside Audi - Sunderland 30/06/19

One of the things that we would like to see, is more co-working between Audi and the Club. With this in mind we asked Audi UK to issue a letter to the dealerships encouraging association with the quattro Owners Club. Chris Wickham for “Wearside Audi” in Sunderland responded, asking us to attend and to display cars within the showroom at their open day.

On arrival on the Saturday, we were given access to the wash bay facilities to prepare the cars after the road trip to Sunderland. The showroom was cleared out for the open day and the cars were looked after securely Saturday night. Courtesy cars were provided to take us to the Roker Hotel on the seafront at Sunderland and settled in for a good evening.

Sunday morning, breakfast was 08h00 sharp as we wanted to be on site by 9am. When we arrived, Sun FM were already broadcasting and the NE Audi Club had their cars lined up in the forecourt area. Local club member, Daniel Barton, had already his WR in position. We had further Club cars still to arrive.

The showroom consisted of 11 quattros plus a B4 S4 saloon (fully restored by Wearside Audi), Chris Wickham’s own restored Golf GTI mark II, detailers products with fully detailed RS5 and S3 saloon, and Audi R8 V10 plus and a Spiderman decal TT. Quite a variety and a remarkable turnout of Club quattros for the North East.

Not much arm twisting was required for Daniel and Chris to agree to jointly become the Area Representatives. Chris Wickham from “Wearside Audi” graciously offered the use of the dealership for meetings and was very supportive.

The new Reps were given a tour of the facilities by Martin, who is by all accounts, an Audi parts expert who can find anything you need if anyone can. He is also well versed in obtaining parts from Audi Tradition in Germany so if you have a problem, give Martin a call. It was an excellent weekend result in a new area group with genuinely enthusiastic contacts at “Wearside Audi” willing to work with us.
