Audi’s Tom Kristensen dedicated this win to the memory of his fellow racing driver Allan Simonsen, who died early in the race in an horrific accident. I know that all qOC motorsport fans send their condolences to his family.
The quattro drive train is still showing the rest of the field its heels. The grip in the wet (oh yes it rained a lot!) at the exits of high speed curves was so much better than the competition. This quattro drive system is a new innovation again, with quattro grip coming from the engine to just the rear wheels and
electric drive to the front wheels only, on acceleration. So not only hybrid power but hybrid quattro!
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is set to be a great weekend again with Audi’s Allan McNish celebrating his 3rd Le Mans win by driving a race car up the hill and Hannu Mikkola driving an Audi quattro S1, plus lots of other interesting cars.
